Viad (pronounced VEE-ahd) is an S&P SmallCap 600 international experiential services company with operations in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, continental Europe and the United Arab Emirates. Viad generates its revenue and shareholder value through two main business groups: GES, a global full-service live events company serving the world’s leading brands and event organizers and Pursuit, a collection of iconic and cultural destination travel experiences that showcase the best of Banff, Jasper, Glacier, Denali and Kenai Fjords National Parks. Our business strategy focuses on providing exceptional experiential services to our customers and sustainable returns on invested capital to our shareholders.
Our strategy for the GES is to be the preferred global full-service provider for live events, with further reach to corporate and consumer events, exhibitions, congresses and conferences. We expect to do this through the acquisition of businesses that compete in industry sectors with higher profit margins, add new, value-added services for our customers that complement and enhance our existing businesses, and further leverage our global capabilities.
Our strategy for the Pursuit is to scale the business to at least $250M in revenue by advancing our Refresh-Build-Buy growth initiatives. Specifically, we are focused on refreshing our existing assets to drive both rate and volume growth, building new assets and buying assets that add scale to the business and generate strong returns on investment.
Solid financial performance has allowed us to maintain a strong balance sheet, while also investing in the business and returning capital to shareholders. From 2012 - 2016 we have:
- Generated cumulative operating cash flow of $293.9 million
- Returned $133.0 million to shareholders in the form of dividends and share repurchases
- Reinvested $498.3 million back into the business in the form of capital expenditures and acquisitions, net of divestitures of non-strategic real estate assets
- Maintained a strong balance sheet, with a 40.3% debt-to-capital ratio as of December 31, 2016
Viad is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol VVI.
